The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee convened its 38th meeting on May 11 to make preparations for the agenda of the upcoming NA session scheduled to open on May 20.
During this four-day session, the Committee reviewed the Government’s report on Article 60 of the 2014 Social Insurance Law regarding lump-sum social insurance allowance.
The Committee said the elaboration of the Social Insurance Law in general and Article 60 in particular complies with law-prescribed order and procedures and reflects guidelines and policies of the Party and State.
The law has been recognized as relevant and suitable for moves toward international development, ensuring long-term benefits for laborers and contributing to the implementation of social welfare policies of the State, deputies said.
Phung Quoc Hien, Chairman of the NA Committee for Financial and Budgetary Affairs, proposed the NA to be more cautious about the amendment of Article 60, suggesting more discussions be needed before a decision was made on the amendment.
NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung asked the Government and the NA Committee for Social Affairs to report on the issue at the NA session to be held in October.
During this session, the NA Standing Committee adopted resolutions approving the organizational structures, tasks and powers of the units in the assisting apparatus of the Supreme People’s Court; the establishment of three Superior People’s Courts in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh cities; members and working regulation of the National Council for Selection and Supervision of Judges; and personnel to be appointed by the National Assembly as judges of the Supreme People’s Court.-
