Vietnam was resolved to strengthen and expand multifaceted cooperation with Argentina in trade, investment, petroleum and energy development, science and technology and cultural exchange, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner in Buenos Aires on April 16.

Kirchner said Prime Minister Dung’s three-day visit would contribute greatly to intensifying and developing the existing friendship and cooperation between the governments and peoples of Vietnam and Argentina.

The two sides discussed a range of measures to further elevate friendly and cooperative relations and emphasized the need to maintain regular operations of the inter-governmental committee to examine, urge and suggest new areas and forms of cooperation, suitable to the strengths and needs of both nations.

Following their talks, the two leaders signed a joint statement and witnessed the signing of other documents, including a governmental-level agreement on energy cooperation; a memorandum of understanding on commercial and trade negotiations between the two foreign ministries; a cultural program during 2010-12; and three letters of intent on cooperation in the fields of wind and hydropower production and equipment.

The Prime Minister on April 17 attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a statue of the late President Ho Chi Minh at the Vietnam Park in Buenos Aires.-
