The Border Guards High Command of the northern province of Lao Cai and the Honghe Border Management Unit, the Hekou Entry-Exit Inspection Station in China’s Yunnan province conducted a joint patrol along the border areas they are responsible for on August 28.

At the border demarcation line of the Lao Cai - Hekou International Border Gate, the patrol commands from both sides discussed joint patrol methods. They exchanged liaison officers to patrol within each other's teams, and each side established nine patrol units covering the area from Marker No. 87 in Y Ty commune, Bat Xat district to Marker No.167 in Pha Long commune, Muong Khuong district.

During this joint patrol, the Chinese force handed over eight Vietnamese citizens who had been residing illegally in China to the Vietnamese side.

Both sides agreed to continue exchanging information on the situation along their respective border areas via their hotline, letters, or liaison officers. They will coordinate to effectively address problems arising from efforts to combat crimes and manage the border; and work together to promptly detect and prevent criminal activities, particularly illegal border crossings, human trafficking, smuggling, and other violations. Additionally, they will collaborate closely to maintain political security and social order in the border areas.- (VNA/VLLF)
