A plan to intensify the teaching of Vietnamese language online to overseas Vietnamese has recently been approved by the Prime Minister.

The plan, issued together with Decision No. 1382/QD-TTg dated July 12, aims to help overseas Vietnamese, particularly the young generation, gain sufficient knowledge about their mother tongue in order to nurture their love for the homeland and maintain national traditions and characteristics.
Under the plan, Vietnamese language programs will be designed and provided online at six levels, meeting the criteria of being basic, effective and easy to access.
Vietnamese lessons and learning materials will be provided to learners to improve their pronunciation and knowledge in various majors, such as folk culture and art, science and technology and social science and humanities, among others. Learners will also be provided with various documents such as Vietnamese-language handbooks on communication, travel, gastronomy and business.
At the same time, the plan will develop an online portal to serve as a platform for learning activities, including classes with teachers, exams and forums to exchange teaching experiences.
At present, the Ministry of Education and Training, authorized by the Government, is running a website to teach Vietnamese language to overseas Vietnamese at tiengvietonline.com.vn.- (VNS/VLLF)
