Solutions proposed to remove difficulties facing seafood exports

The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) has recently proposed to the Government solutions to remove difficulties for seafood exports.

VASEP suggested the Government continue revising the provisions on inspection and certification of food safety for export marine products in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Circular No. 48/2013/TT-BNNPTNN, and regulations on goods labeling in Government Decree No. 89/2006/ND-CP as well as procedures for food safety regulation conformity announcement for imported goods for export production.

The Association also proposed the State to give quarantine exemption to enterprises that regularly import materials of the same origin from the same supplier for seafood processing for export based on result of the inspection of previous lots. The mechanism to evaluate and classify such enterprises for enjoying the quarantine exemption need to be provided in a circular drafted to replace the ministry’s Circular No. 06/2010/TT-BNNPTNT.

It also suggested the Government and the ministry adopt specific programs to raise the farmers’ awareness about antibiotic-free shrimp rearing.

In order to facilitate enterprises’ production and business activities, VASEP proposed collecting two percent of enterprises’ wage fund as trade union due in accordance with international laws and the country’s practical conditions.- (VLLF)
