ASEAN capitals forum holds first meeting in Hanoi

He made the statement at the ASEAN Capitals Business Forum held in Hanoi on October 15-16 under the theme “Towards a prosperous ASEAN.”

Forum participants discussed topics relating to opportunities and challenges for governments and businesses in investment attraction; financial crisis; the development of the private sector within the ASEAN economy; the ASEAN financial-securities market; the liberalization of trade and services; real estate business risks; difficulties of businesses after joining the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA); the development of retail markets in Vietnam and ASEAN; and the role of governments, business associations and the mass media.

At the forum, awards were presented to 40 successful ASEAN business leaders, including 28 Vietnamese, who were recognized for significant contributions to national development and ASEAN growth.-
