The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on March 2 issued a decision releasing for the first time a national code of conduct for local and international tourists, tour operators and residential communities at tourism spots.
Under this Code which takes effect immediately, tourists should behave in a self-respectful and responsible manner, including queuing in order, wearing appropriate costumes and respecting cultural differences. Purchasing goods with unknown origin and using wildlife products are also considered improper behaviors.
Visitors are encouraged to help save energy and protect the environment, and assist the disabled, and elderly, children and women. They are asked to avoid destroying landscape and wasting food.
The Code also specifies similar rules applicable to tourism, hotel and transporting service providers and sellers, refraining them from disturbing tourists, selling overcharged or low-quality products or usurping trademarks.
It sets out slogans for civilized behaviors such as promoting the image of Vietnamese tourists, knowledgeable and responsible travelers, Vietnam - safe, friendly and civilized destination, and each citizen is a tourist guide, among others.- (VLLF)
