Water drainage in urban centers and industrial parks, though being a public-utility service sector, is open to investment of all domestic and overseas entities.
Orientations for development of urban and industrial park water drainage up to 2025, with a vision toward 2050, which were approved under Prime Minister Decision No. 1930/QD-TTg of November 20, prioritize drainage of rainwater and elimination of places of frequent inundation in the rainy season in urban centers of grade II or higher, and expansion of drainage systems to cover 70-80% of total urban and industrial park area (from the current 50%). By 2025, all urban and industrial park areas will have well-functioning drains.
The Government urges concerned agencies to revise legal documents on water drainage, adjust and promulgate standards on quality of daily-life and industrial wastewater discharged into drainage systems, the scope of protection of water sources, and standards of exploration wells and rainwater collection wells in drainage systems.
From November 20, ODA-funded water drainage projects will be concentrated in in big cities and cities frequented by flood.-
