Trucks which have been used for more than 25 years will be considered unfit and be banned from running on Vietnamese roads. Meanwhile, the use duration of passenger cars will be 20 years from the year of manufacture. For transformed automobiles with their original utilities converted into passenger transportation before January 1, 2002, the permitted maximum use duration will be 17 years.
Under Government Decree No. 95/2009/ND-CP of October 30, which supersedes Decree No. 23/2004/ND-CP of January 13, 2004, from December 20, 2009, the above limited use durations will be applicable to automobiles of all organizations and individuals, except automobiles of the armed and public security forces used for defense and security purposes, special-use automobiles, trailers and semi-trailers.-
