Politburo member and standing member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Tran Cam Tu signed a conclusion issued by the Politburo and the Secretariat regarding a scheme to reorganize and streamline mass organizations tasked by the Party and State, and a review of the operational models of the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance (VCA) and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
Under the conclusion, the Politburo and the Secretariat approved a roster of 29 mass organizations assigned tasks by the Party and the State during a meeting on November 28 last year.
The list comprises the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Vietnam Union of Literature and Arts Associations, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the VCCI, the VCA, the Vietnam Red Cross Society, the Vietnam Journalists’ Association, the Vietnam Writers’ Association, the Vietnam Lawyers’ Association, the Vietnam Bar Federation, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, the Vietnam Association of Former People’s Public Security Officers, the Association of Former Vietnamese Youth Volunteers, the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, the Vietnam Blind Association, the Vietnam Association for the Support of Persons with Disabilities, the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, the Vietnam Oriental Medicine Association, the Vietnam Medical Association, the Vietnam Association of Architects, the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, the Vietnam Stage Artists’ Association, the Vietnam Musicians’ Association, the Vietnam Historical Science Association, the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, the Vietnam Folk Arts Association, the Vietnam Cinema Association, the Vietnam Dancers Association, and the Vietnam Association of Literature and Arts of Ethnic Minorities.
The VCA and VCCI are classified as socio-professional organizations assigned tasks by the Party and State, though they do not exercise state management functions. Tasks for these two entities are assigned by the Prime Minister upon proposals from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee.
The Politburo and the Secretariat also agreed to continue a mechanism under which the State provides financial support to these organizations based on the specific tasks assigned by the Party and State.- (VNA/VLLF)
