The National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee reviewed the legislature’s report on people's aspiration work for October and November during the 52nd session in Hanoi on December 24.
Presenting the report, Standing Vice Chairwoman of the Committee for People’s Aspirations and Supervision Le Thi Nga noted that voters and the public expressed robust support and confidence in the Party’s leadership on Party building and political system reform, personnel work, preparations for the 14th National Party Congress, and major socio-economic development policies for 2026 onward, as finalized by the Party Central Committee’s 13th, 14th and 15th plenums. These are expected to serve as decisive levers to create a more streamlined, transparent and efficient political apparatus, fueling faster and sustainable national growth.
The 15th NA’s 10th session was a resounding success, handling the heaviest workload in history. It reaffirmed the NA’s central role in refining legal system, turning the Party’s guidelines into laws, and shaping the country’s future development. Voters and the public closely followed and broadly endorsed key decisions adopted at the session, particularly institutional reforms to clear bottlenecks and the 2026 socioeconomic roadmap, she said.
The report highlighted public concern and empathy for the devastating floods and torrential rains that struck central cities and provinces, inflicting heavy casualties and property damage.
Citizens pointed to booming business and services on social networks and e-commerce platforms as key contributors to digital transformation, modern retail and overall growth. Yet, State oversight lags, particularly in tax management, product traceability, pricing transparency and quality assurance. Serious violations often go undetected for extended periods, causing losses to the State revenue and harm to consumers.
Frustration persists over rampant online scams, protracted delays in issuing and renewing driver’s licenses that burden ordinary people, and ongoing drug trafficking and use, especially among youth.
Regarding the receipt and handling of voters’ petitions and responses from competent authorities, the Committee for People’s Aspirations and Supervision collected 757 submissions and forwarded them to relevant authorities for settlement in accordance with the law. To date, responses have been provided for 304 cases, equating to a 40.2 percent rate.
The volume of complaints, denunciations, petitions and feedback filed by citizens during the NA’s 10th session rose compared to September.
Closing the session, NA Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong requested that the Committee for People’s Aspirations and Supervision collect feedback from the NA Standing Committee members, along with clarifications and supplemental reports from relevant ministries and agencies, and closely work with the NA Secretary General to issue a conclusion notice to relevant bodies for follow-through.
On the same morning, the NA Standing Committee adopted a resolution regulating citizen reception; the handling of complaints, denunciations, petitions, and reflections; and oversight of these activities by elected bodies and deputies. It also evaluated progress of the 2025 external relations and international cooperation program, approved the NA’s diplomatic agenda 2026, offered opinions on external relations of the NA Ethnic Council, committees, NA Office, the State Audit Office, and parliamentary friendship groups; and endorsed the appointment of several Vietnamese ambassadors abroad.- (VNA/VLLF)
