By 2020, Vietnam will strive to create industries that can meet the growing need to protect the environment from the impact of surging development.
According to a scheme to be submitted by the Ministry of Industry and Trade to the Government in the third quarter, top priority will be given to the standardization of environmental services for many regions.
There is an urgent need to set up an environmental protection industry in a period of high economic growth, according to the ministry.
The so-called environment industry is described as a grouping of producers of environmental products and services that measure, prevent, limit, minimize or regulate environmental damage to water, air and land and those related to waste, noise and the ecology.
Its job is to provide cleaner technologies and products, pollution management services and resources management.
Experts suggest new policies to guide the development of environmental enterprises and urge the Government to provide effective sanctions against polluters and provide incentives and supports to build infrastructure for the environmental protection industry.-
