Presidential Office announces new ordinances
The Presidential Office on February 25 introduced the State President’s orders promulgating two new ordinances recently adopted by the Standing Committee of the XIIth National Assembly.

The Presidential Office on February 25 introduced the State President’s orders promulgating two new ordinances recently adopted by the Standing Committee of the XIIth National Assembly.

These are the Ordinance on the Defense Industry and the Ordinance on the Coast Guard of Vietnam, which both will take effect on July 1, 2008.

The Ordinance on the Defense Industry allows qualified organizations and individuals, foreign and domestic, to participate in defense industry activities with a view to mobilizing combined strength for defense industry development according to the international integration progress, said Lieutenant-General Truong Quang Khanh, director of the General Department of Defense Industry under the Ministry of Defense.

Under the Ordinance on the Coast Guard of Vietnam, the coast guard force performs inspection and control tasks in order to protect sovereignty and maintain security, order and safety; protect natural resources and prevent environmental pollution; detect, prevent and fight acts of human trafficking or illegally transporting and trading in goods, weapons, explosives or drugs, and other law-breaking acts at sea.-
