The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE) met on January 29 to discuss amendments of the 2003 Land Law to meet national socio-economic development and international integration requirements.

Put up for discussion were matters related to land use planning and plans, land allocation, land lease, change in land use purposes; registration, establishment and management of cadastral dossiers, grant of land use rights certificates, land use market, management of public services, as well as land recovery, compensation, support and resettlement, stabilization of the life of people who have their land recovered.

MNRE is coordinating with the Ministry of Finance in reviewing problems in current financial policies on land for appropriate amendment or supplementation, especially methods of determining land prices and adjustment of charges and fees related to the grant of land use right certificates.

The 2003 Land Law’s provisions which remain unclear should be clarified with cumbersome administrative procedures to be simplified upon the amendment of the law.-
