Priority should be given to fine-tuning mechanisms to further improve the business climate and the efficiency of state-owned enterprises as well as public administrative units, especially the private sector.
The statement was made by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the closing session of the sixth plenum of the Party Central Committee that concluded in Hanoi on October 11 after a week-long sitting.
The Party leader said the Committee’s members underscored the need to make drastic changes in the realization of three strategic breakthroughs, renovation of growth model in combination with restructuring the economy, raising labor productivity and economic competitiveness in 2018.
They asked for paying attention to cultural development, democracy exercise, social justice, response to climate change, environment protection, food hygiene and safety, and the fight against corruption and waste toward maintaining an environment of peace, stability and active global integration.
The Committee affirmed that mechanisms and policies will be changed to improve services that help protect and improve people’s health, ensuring that every citizen will be equal in their rights and obligations in health insurance coverage and related services.
The Committee also emphasized the importance of reorganizing the apparatus of the political system toward a streamlined one with efficient and effective operation, highlighting this as a fundamental and urgent task to build and reorganize the Party.
Trong said it is necessary to build a competitive, overt and transparent mechanism in the recruitment, appointment and promotion of officials to attract moral and capable ones to work for organizations of the political system.
Building a mechanism to strictly oversee power by law, promoting accountability, and severely punishing violators are equally important.
Any violations will be strictly dealt with to ensure the Party’s discipline and revive people’s trust, the Party chief affirmed.- (VNS/VLLF)
