Vietnam and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) have agreed to improve bilateral relations between the two parties, states and peoples.
The agreement was made during Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh’s three-day official visit to the DPRK, staring from October 16.
Mr. Manh and General Secretary of the Workers’ Party and Chairman of the National Defense Commission of the DPRK, Kim Jong Il, discussed measures to enhance cooperation and international issues of mutual concern.
The visit, which marks the 50th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s trip to the DPRK, would further strengthen bilateral traditional relationship, Mr. Manh said.
He affirmed Vietnam’s support of the DPRK’s aspiration for national reunification and efforts to expand cooperation between the DPRK and members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
The two sides put forth measures to foster relations in economics, culture, science and technology, and education and training.
They affirmed that they would continue to work more closely and share experience to boost national development and socialist construction process in the two countries.-
