The Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, during its 10th plenum held in Hanoi in early January, put forth 12 tasks and solutions for the entire Party and people to perform in the five coming years.
Regarding the objectives for its 2016-21 term, the Committee said it was necessary to step up party building work, build a pure and strong political system and improve the Party’s leading and fighting capacity. It is also a must to accelerate the renewal process in a comprehensive and synchronous manner and build a solid foundation for early turning Vietnam into a modernity-oriented industrial country.

The twelve tasks and solutions include:
(i) Strive for an economic growth rate higher than that in the previous five-year period on the basis of maintaining macroeconomic stability, changing the growth model, restructuring the economy and stepping up industrialization and modernization;
(ii) Further improve socialist-oriented market economy institutions;
(iii) Basically and comprehensively renew education and training; raise the quality of human resources; and accelerate science and technology development and application;...
