The information was revealed at a working session between Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang and Lao Minister of Industry and Trade Nam Vinhaketh and Minister of Energy and Mining Xulivong Dalavong in Laos on October 22.

Vietnam agreed to increase its rice imports from Laos to 70,000 tonnes from 40,000 tonnes at the preferential duty rate of zero per cent from next year.

The two sides also agreed to build a management mechanism over timber and plank wood exports from Laos and boost construction of hydropower projects in Laos.-
