The Social Insurance Law, passed by the National Assembly on June 29, 2006, covers compulsory and voluntary social insurance as well as unemployment benefits. The law will take effect on January 1, 2007, with provisions on voluntary insurance taking effect a year later and those on employment insurance in 2009.
