Vietnam, China ink numerous cooperative documents

President Truong Tan Sang’s visit to China would create a new momentum for the relationship between the two countries, increase mutual understanding and trust as well as mutually beneficial cooperation between the two parties and nations and the friendship between the two peoples, Chinese President Xi Jinping said in Beijing on June 19.

During talks between the two presidents, Sang suggested the two sides instruct their ministries and sectors in effectively implementing cooperative agreements inked previously and during this visit, to enhance trade and economic cooperation and coordinate effective and drastic measures to raise two-way trade to USD 60 billion by 2015.

The cooperative documents signed during the visit include a joint plan of action for implementing the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership; a border defense cooperation agreement between the two Ministries of National Defense; an agreement between Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and China’s Ministry of Agriculture on the establishment of a hotline on unexpected incidents in fishing activities at sea; a framework agreement on China’s provision of preferential credit worth RMB 320 million for Vietnam’s railway information system; a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a cultural center in each country; the working statutes of the Vietnam-China Joint Committee on Land Border Gate Management; an agreement between MARD and China’s General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine on cooperation in quarantine of imported and exported animals and plants; a cooperation plan during 2013-17 between the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and China’s People’s External Friendship Association; an agreement on preferential buyer’s credit worth USD 45 million for the Ninh Binh Fine Coal-based Urea Plant project; and the fourth amendment to the agreement between Vietnam Oil and Gas Corporation and China National Offshore Oil Cooperation on the joint exploration in agreed offshore areas in the Gulf of Tonkin.-
