Vietnamese and French businesses on November 13 signed 18 contracts totally valued at USD 9.5 billion.

Vietnamese and French businesses on November 13 signed 18 contracts totally valued at USD 9.5 billion.

The contracts were signed at the France-Vietnam business forum held during the French Prime Minister’s visit to Vietnam on November 12-13.

Under the contracts, businesses will cooperate on thermo-power generation, finance, telecommunications, banking, construction, and urban planning and development.

Receiving the French Prime Minister on November 12, Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung said France was a special partner that has always been given top priority in Vietnam’s foreign policy, adding that he hoped France would foster its economic, trade and investment presence in the country.

Both leaders committed to creating favorable conditions for businesses to invest in the two countries, especially in infrastructure, energy, aerospace, science and technology, telecommunications, environmental protection, and response to climate change.

After talks, they witnessed the signing of agreements on the construction and development of the Hanoi Science and Technology University; development of the peaceful utilization of nuclear power; assurance of social order and safety; development of cultural centers; and cooperation between the two Ministries of Defense.

Other signed deals were to implement the Nhon-Hanoi railway and Huoi Quang hydro-power projects and provide capital for the Central People’s Credit Fund.
