The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on June 20 launched its nationwide press photo awards which honors golden moments captured through the lens, as part of the activities to mark the 98th anniversary of the Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925-2023).
Addressing the launch ceremony, VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang highlighted the significance of photography in journalism.

Press photos not only make the information delivered more vivid and reliable, but also hold the value similar to that by excellent articles, she affirmed.
The VNA, a press agency with a long tradition in photography, has initiated and run five editions of the awards so far to honor outstanding and creative works and their authors.
The 2023 awards, the 6th edition of its kind, calls for entries to diversely reflect all aspects of life from politics, diplomacy, economy, and culture to health, education, sports and environment. Eligible candidates are Vietnamese and foreign citizens, while the photos submitted must be taken between January 1, 2022 and August 15, 2023.

Participants are allowed to submit their works from June 21 to August 15, with the awards ceremony slated for September. There will be a special prize worth 30 million VND (1,275 USD); two first prizes of 20 million VND each; four second prizes of 15 million VND each; and six third prizes of 10 million VND each.

As part of the awards, a display of photos by seven veteran VNA journalists, who won the 2022 Ho Chi Minh Awards and State Awards for Literature and Arts, is underway at the agency's headquarters. - (VNA/VLLF)
