China’s ban on fishing in the East Sea from 12 hours on May 16 to 12 hours on August 11, 2011, has violated Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago and further complicated the East Sea situation, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nguyen Phuong Nga on May 13 in Hanoi.
