The prevention of speculation and price hike of essential goods would be among the Government’s major tasks through the year-end, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said at the July regular cabinet meeting on August 4 in Hanoi.
The Prime Minister asked ministries, sectors and localities to find ways to reduce interest rates and stabilize foreign exchange rates within an acceptable range while balancing the foreign currency supply and demand.
He instructed ministries and sectors to help promote industrial production and ordered relevant agencies to study and provide effective solutions to such social problems as online gaming, food hygiene and traffic safety.
The meeting debated the Government’s Resolution on the Reform and Development of Vocational Training by 2020 and the draft laws on the Capital; anti-human trafficking and settlement of complaints and denunciations.
At a press conference after the meeting, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung briefed reporters on restructuring the Vietnam Shipbuilding Industry Group (Vinashin), saying that the new Vinashin would focus only on its core shipbuilding and support industries.
Its non-core projects, including tourism, cement production and sea shipping, would be sold, transferred or equitised, he said, adding that Vinashin was expected to generate profits again by 2013.-
