Members of the National Assembly Standing Committee discussed the formation of a consumer rights organization under the draft Law on Consumer Protection, during the first day of the Committee’s 33rd session that took place in Hanoi on August 20-26.
Dang Vu Minh, director of the National Assembly Committee on Science, Technology and the Environment, dwelt on such controversial issues as the conformity of the draft law with the current legal system; the responsibility of the State and goods traders and service providers to protect consumers; the role of social organizations to protect consumer rights; and mechanisms and procedures to settle disputes between consumers and traders.
During this meeting, the Committee members debated some other draft laws concerning civil procedures; insurance business; complaints; anti-human trafficking; and measurement.-
