Healthcare data connection, sharing to be promoted
From January 10, data on medical examination and treatment, population and civil status will be interconnected to serve the implementation of sickness, maternity and health rehabilitation allowance regimes in the electronic environment, according to Decision 69/QD-TTg recently issued by the Prime Minister.

From January 10, data on medical examination and treatment, population and civil status will be interconnected to serve the implementation of sickness, maternity and health rehabilitation allowance regimes in the electronic environment, according to Decision 69/QD-TTg recently issued by the Prime Minister.

Specifically, shared data include those in the health sector, covering hospital discharge papers, certificates of leave to enjoy social insurance, benefits birth certificates, hospital referral papers, summaries of medical records, death certificates, medical assessment minutes, and certificates of maternity leave. Information and data in the judicial sector include birth certificates, extracts of birth certificates, death certificates, and extracts of death certificates. The verified citizen information and information related to citizens’ family relationships will also be shared from the Population Database.

Under the Decision, data connection and sharing must comply with regulations on information security and data-related intellectual property rights; conform to the privacy rights of organizations and individuals and be compatible with Vietnam’s e-government architecture framework.

In addition, shared data must be capable of being sent, received, stored, and processed by digital devices; and digitally signed under relevant regulations.

The Vietnam Social Security will have to upgrade and improve its electronic information system to ensure comprehensive electronic connection of data shared from ministries and sectors; and coordinate with relevant ministries, sectors and agencies in the data connection and sharing under this Decision.-
