By 2025, Vietnam will be among top 20 countries in the world in converting the Internet to IPv6.

This is provided in Prime Minister Decision 36/QD-TTg, approving the Master Plan on development of information and communications infrastructure for the 2021-30 period, with a vision toward 2050.

Furthermore, all hi-tech parks, concentrated information technology (IT) parks, and research, development and innovation centers will have access to the Internet with a minimum speed of 1Gb per second, while some four more international telecommunications cable lines will be built and commissioned.

As for data center and cloud computing infrastructure, national data centers will be established and operated as infrastructure facilities to serve the operation of national databases and other shared databases. There will be at least three national multi-purpose data centers and multi-purpose data centers established at the regional level.

In addition, all government agencies will use the cloud computing ecosystem to serve the digital government while 70 percent of Vietnamese enterprises will use cloud computing services of domestic providers.

The IT industry will be developed based on artificial intelligence, big data, blockchain, cloud computing and Internet of Things, aiming to intensify  digital technology application in all economic and social sectors.

Under the Master Plan, by 2050, information and communications infrastructure will be able to increase smart applications based on data and new technologies; adapt to climate change; ensure multi-space coverage and connection in water surface, ground surface, underground space, and air space, and multi-dimensional connection; and securely merge the entire physical world with the digital world so as to adapt to all complex and urgent changes, and expand the scope of operation to meet requirements of sustainable development in all aspects of political, economic, social, environmental, security and defense life.- (VLLF)
