During its 41st session (July 25-27), the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee adopted a Resolution on house-related civil transactions involving overseas Vietnamese which were established before July 1, 1991.

The Resolution, which will take effect on September 1, 2006, aims to protect legitimate rights and interests of house owners and transaction parties and safeguard the State's and public interests as well.

It governs private house-related civil transactions, including lease, borrowing, purchase and sale, exchange, donation, inheritance, and authorized management of houses among individuals.

Overseas Vietnamese who lease or lend their houses in Vietnam may reclaim such houses in all circumstances provided that they should notify in advance lessees or borrowers of their reclamation.

During the meeting, the Committee also reviewed the results of the NA's ninth session and made preparations for its tenth session, which is scheduled to be held early October.
