Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has recently signed a decision on the national program on high technology development through 2030, which aims to develop and master 20 prioritized technologies in different sectors.
According to Decision 130 dated January 27, the program aims to research, master, develop and effectively apply high technologies to socio-economic development, national defense and security maintenance and environmental protection; and to establish and develop a number of hi-tech industries, hi-tech agriculture and enterprises operating in these sectors.
One of the major objectives of the program is increasing export value of hi-tech products to about 60 percent of the manufacturing-processing industry’s total value, increasing the proportion of value of hi-tech agricultural production in total agricultural production value, while creating new products and services with high added value.
The program targets to build some 500 enterprises producing hi-tech products and providing hi-tech services on the list of hi-tech products encouraged for development, along with some 200 hi-tech agricultural enterprises having chain-model cooperation and linkage from production to processing and consumption of agricultural products nationwide.
By 2030, three component programs will be developed - one on technology research, application, and development under the Ministry of Science and Technology; one on development of hi-tech sectors under the Ministry of Industry and Trade; and another on promotion of hi-tech agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
To this end, the program provides a number of solutions, including improving institutions, supporting technology research and transfer, fostering links between businesses and science-technology organizations, supporting and facilitating the application and production of products and provision of hi-tech services, intensifying international cooperation on high technology, and raising social awareness about the role and impacts of high technology.- (VLLF)
