Prime Minister gets tough on negative practices in vehicle registration

In order to timely rectify shortcomings and weaknesses in and improve the quality of vehicle registration in furtherance of Directive No. 18-CT/TW of August 4, 2012, of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Prime Minister on April 12 issued Directive No. 08/CT-TTg on urgent solutions to improve the quality of and combat negative practices in vehicle registration.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Transport is required to revise or complete improving legal documents providing regulations on road, railway, waterway and maritime vehicle registration.

The ministry is required to conduct checks on registration staff and close substandard centers committing serious violations. Violating centers’ names will be publicly notified.

The Ministry of Public Security and local People’s Committees will also have to join hands in investigating and inspecting violations at registration centers.

The National Committee for Traffic Safety is required to coordinate with the Vietnam Television, the Voice of Vietnam, the Vietnam News Agency and communications agencies in carrying out dissemination and education about the regulations on vehicle registration.

A hotline will be established to receive reports on negative practices and facilitate the handling of reported practices in vehicle registration at registration centers.-
