Report suggests improvement of skilled labor supply
Labor and human resource development was the main focus of the Vietnam Annual Business Report released on July 1 in Hanoi.

Labor and human resource development was the main focus of the Vietnam Annual Business Report released on July 1 in Hanoi.

The report analyzed businesses based on four factors of competitiveness, namely employment, finance, technology and market access, said Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chairman Vu Tien Loc.

It assessed the capacity of businesses in six sectors highly sensitive to conditions in the labor market, including textile and garment, construction, tourism, insurance, banking, and food production.

According to the report, the benefits of the region’s high FDI inflows were being undercut by chronic shortages of sufficiently skilled laborers.

In the context of increasing flows of registered investment capital, the report warned that if the country makes no move to improve the supply of skilled labor nor adopt policies to promote the internal migration of skilled laborers, it will seriously risk losing its position in the eyes of foreign investors.-
