Currently, US citizens only receive single-entry visas for three months under the 2014 Law on Foreigners' Entry into, Exit from, Transit through and Residence in Vietnam.

Deputy Chairwoman of the National Assembly Tong Thi Phong said the National Assembly is scheduled to ratify the diplomatic note on visa grant between Vietnam and the US on April 9.

The new visa extension is set to facilitate the travel of US citizens and boost Vietnam-US commercial ties.

The US had repeatedly sought the Vietnamese government’s extension of visa validity for its citizens for the purposes of travel, meeting and personal business and other short-term entry purposes as it said the US had already granted Vietnamese citizens one-year visas.- (VLLF)
