Vietnamese exporters are increasingly facing anti-dumping lawsuits in other countries but they are taking no action despite suffering the penetration of cheap imports into Vietnam, Industry and Trade Ministry’s Competition Management Department deputy-director Nguyen Duc Thanh said at a conference in Hanoi on April 10.
To file an anti-dumping lawsuit, local firms should prove that imports have at least 25 per cent market share of a product and that dumping is the reason for their losses.
If they wish to claim safeguards, they must prove that the sudden increase in the import of a certain goods caused severe losses to local producers.
Vietnamese exports have faced 37 lawsuits on charges of dumping, subsidy and safeguards in such markets as the US, Europe and India.
