The processing and management of intellectual property applications in Vietnam will be eased considerably with the introduction of four new data management systems.
The National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam (NOIP) introduced these systems on March 13 at the concluding meeting of the Utilization of Intellectual Property Information project in Ho Chi Minh City.
The project, which began in April 2000 and will finish by the end of this month, will help NOIP improve its administration and management of intellectual property rights in the country.
The four systems - application management, industrial property digital library (IP-Lib), IP search and e-filing, are the products of an eight-year cooperative venture between the Japan International Cooperation Agency and NOIP.
These systems, according to NOIP, were designed to make intellectual property application, processing and management more effective.
With the IP-Lib, information on published IP applications and granted patent, industrial design and trademark titles can be accessed.
The e-filing program, which will be developed when the national digital signature identification system and the public key infrastructure are ready, can save much cost and time since applications can be submitted online at any time from anywhere.-
