The Prime Minister on May 11 issued No. 689/QD-TTg, approving the national program on development of e-commerce under Decision.

Accordingly, the program is targeted to formulate the national e-commerce payment system so as to widely apply it to business-to-customer model (B2C) as well as popularize credit cards for gradually limiting cash payment and digital signatures for ensuring security of e-commerce transactions.
It also aims at transforming online shopping into a popular trading tool for customers and enables enterprises to apply various e-commerce models such as business-to-business (B2B), business-to-customer (B2C) and business-to-government (B2G) in their trading or import and export activities.
To realize these set targets, the program sets forth tasks of elaborating and developing e-commerce infrastructures, integrated payment card solution, online delivery management system of e-commerce and certification system of digital signature, and setting criteria for exchanging data messages in e-commerce and dispute settlement mechanisms.
Another important task of the program is to develop e-commerce products and solutions, including building an online sales solution to assist small- and medium-sized enterprises in deploying e-commerce applications, building and operating an e-commerce trading floor to spread out images and brands of Vietnamese enterprises.
Export firms will also be supported for taking part in prestigious local and international trade floors.
Under the Decision, solutions for e-commerce applications on mobile devices and digital contents on e-commerce will also be developed during the period and major products and services of Vietnam will soon have their online brands.-
