By 2030, the country’s construction sector will be able to manage, design, procure materials and construct all modern, complex and large-scale works and eventually compete in the global market.
Such is one of the targets set under Prime Minister Decision 179/QD-TTg dated February 16, approving the Strategy for development of the construction sector through 2030, with a vision toward 2045.
In addition, it is expected to strongly develop the construction material industry that is energy efficient, resource conserving and environmentally friendly and applies high technologies to meet the domestic demand, increase the export of high-quality construction materials, and produce new construction materials.
Meanwhile, the building of a framework technical infrastructure system of urban centers across the country will be basically completed in a synchronous and modern manner. The capacity of infrastructure systems will be improved to respond to climate change, thereby gradually developing underground spaces in large urban areas, increasing the connection among domestic and regional urban areas, and harmonizing urban and rural development.
Specifically, the urbanization rate by 2030 will surpass 50 percent while the ratio of urban construction land to total natural land area will reach 1.9 -2.3 percent.
There will be 1,000-1,200 urban centers nationwide, and a number of national and regional urban centers that meet health, education and training and cultural criteria equivalent to the average criteria for urban centers in top four countries in the ASEAN will be built.
By 2045, the construction sector will be capable of designing and building modern and complex construction projects of all sizes in all fields and become fairly competitive in the global construction market. The construction material industry will be developed to reach the level of the regional developed countries.
Meanwhile, the domestic urbanization rate will be among the leading countries in the ASEAN and Asia. The urban system will be linked in a unified and balanced network nationwide and resilient and adaptive to climate change, capable of preventing and controlling disasters and epidemics, and protecting the environment with national identity-imbued, green, modern and smart architecture works.- (VLLF)
