The 2005 Environmental Protection Law (EPL), which was passed last November by the XIth National Assembly, took effect on July 1, 2006. Apart from provisions on environmental protection activities, the 2005 EPL provides for policies, measures and resources as well as rights and responsibilities of organizations, households and individuals for environmental protection.
